Kasturba Hospital is a 450 bedded Hospital situated in the thickly populated walled city area of Delhi on Urdu Bazar Road(Road linking Netaji Subhash Marg with the gate of Jama Masjid) and providing Medicare services to women and children. Kasturba Hospital was previously called Victoria Zenana Hospital. It was renamed Kasturba Hospital in 1975. It is also popular. known as Machli Wala Hospital. It completed its centenary in 2005. It is one of the largest Maternity Hospital in Asia with 350 beds exclusively for Gynae and Obstt. The delivery rate of 12000 per year speaks of its popularity and workload. Besides deliveries, it is known for the management of all sorts of complicated Obstetric and Paediatric Cases.

Types of anaesthesia provided depend on the patient’s medical status and type of procedure –
General Anaesthesia – Patient is not conscious
Regional anaesthesia – Local anaesthetic is injected by anaesthesiologist to provide numbness in a certain part of the body. This could be used for pain control during/after the procedure.
MAC (Monitored Anaesthesia Care) – Monitoring care of vitals during a procedure, may involve sedation if necessary.
The anesthesiologist will meet the patient before the surgery and discuss the medical history, lab results and anaesthesia plan to take informed consent of the procedure to be performed. In the O.T a member of the anaesthesia care will be with the patient throughout the procedure. After the procedure patient will be moved to the recovery room and a nurse will monitor the patient and provide medication to minimize pain, nausea and vomiting as needed. Then the patient will be transferred from the Recovery room on advice by an anaesthetist when he is stable and comfortable. Supported with Three Full-time anaesthesiologists the department is fully equipped with hi-tech anaesthesia trolleys and Multipara monitors with dual IBP and ETCO2. Anaesthesiologists are available round the clock for the OT needs and patient requirements.

Kasturba Hospital, Valsad is a pioneer of modern-day emergency care in entire Valsad district and operates one of the best Accident & Emergency Centre in South-Gujarat, providing services for trauma and non-trauma medical and surgical emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. At a stage there was no facility available nearby, for the treatment of Kidney Diseases. Considering the Ratio of renal failure patients, A State-of-the-art Dialysis Centre was required the most. We have started Dialysis unit in April-2000 at the cost of Rs.40 lakhs, which is centrally air conditioned and well equipped with 6 latest American Ultra Touch-1000 model Dialysis Machine which is today reached on 13 dialysis equipment with the investment of another Rs. 35 lakhs, R.O. + DM Water Treatment Plant, Gas Analyzer and Electrolyte Analyzer, Monitors etc. This unit is the only of its kind in Bulsar (Valsad) district. Dialysis to the patient is done at Affordable rates of only Rs.500/- per dialysis against the cost of Rs.1100/- per Dialysis. At present about 1200+ Dialysis per month are being performed in this unit. The patients for Dialysis are increasing day by day and this is the only centre where HbsAg +ve and HCV+ve patients are being Dialyzed 2 such equipments allotted for performing the Dialysis to such Patients.

Kasturba Hospital opening new doors towards comprehensive cancer treatment in our own city, A department of Cancer treatment has been started under prodigious supervision of Dr. Kailash Ch. Mishra, he is carrying an extensive experience of treating more than 5.5 lacks patients of his 17 years of career by far. Facility for Chemotherapy, Centre for Breast Health and Preventive Oncology is now available full time at Kasturba Hospital, valsad.

Renal stone or calculus or lithiasis is one of the most common diseases of the urinary tract. It occurs more frequently in men than in women.. It shows a familial predisposition. Urinary calculus is a stone-like body composed of urinary salts bound together by a colloid marix of organic materials. It consists of a nucleus around which concentric layers of urinary salts are deposited. When a stone causes no symptoms, watchful waiting is a valid option. For symptomatic stones, pain control is usually the first measure, using medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or opioids. More severe cases may require surgical intervention. For example, some stones can be shattered into smaller fragments using extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. Some cases require more invasive forms of surgery.
Examples of these are cystoscopic procedures such as laser lithotripsy or percutaneous techniques such as percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Sometimes, a tube (ureteral stent) may be placed in the ureter to bypass the obstruction and alleviate the symptoms, as well as to prevent ureteral stricture after ureteroscopic stone removal.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), benign enlargement of the prostate (BEP), adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia and incorrectly referred to benign prostatic hypertrophy, is an increase in size of the prostate. When sufficiently large, the nodules compress the urethral canal to cause partial, or sometimes virtually complete, obstruction of the urethra, which interferes with the normal flow of urine. It leads to symptoms of urinary hesitancy, frequent urination, dysuria (painful urination), increased risk of urinary tract infections, and urinary retention. Although prostate specific antigen levels may be elevated in these patients because of increased organ volume and inflammation due to urinary tract infections, BPH does not lead to cancer or increase the risk of can
