Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital was commissioned in April 1986 as one of the 700 bedded hospitals planned by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi during the 6th five-year plan under the Special component plan for Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribes. Later bed strength was increased to 300  beds in January 2006. The hospital newborn bedded complex is dedicated exclusively to  Maternity (100 Beds) & Pediatrics (50 beds).

 

 The Hospital is providing free health care facilities of OPD, Indoor, Casualty & Emergency services of all common specialties along with free drug distribution and investigations for patients.  At present, it is managing a patient load of about 2500-3000 OPD patients per day and bed Occupancy 143%.

Q.1)  Who can avail facilities of the Hospital?

 

Ans: Anyone in need (Indian or Non-Indian) can avail the facilities in the hospital 

Q.2) What facilities are available?

  Ans: a) OPD (Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, ANC, Family Welfare, Immunization Service, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Eye, ENT, Skin & V.D., Dental, DOT center b) Routine Investigations, c) Routine surgeries, d) Facility for delivery and emergency operation for Surgery, Orthopedics, Obs & Gynae, e) Major and minor surgical operations in surgery, Orthopedics, Obs. & Gynae , Eye and ENT are performed, f) Free medicines as per essential during list. Q.3) How can one avail hospital facilities?

Ans: There is no provision of home visits. Patient has to come to the hospital to availing O.P.D. consultation He/she has to get himself/herself registered and get his/her O.P.D. card made. Facility for online registration is also available at website “health.delhigovt.nic.in”. After registration, the patient goes to the concerned doctor and gets free consultation, investigations (if required) and medicines from the hospital pharmacy. In an emergency, the patient has to come directly to Casualty Department where the patient gets medical treatment for immediate relief and advised admission/ operation or other treatment if needed. All services are provided free of cost.

 

Q.4) When can one avail facilities?

 

Ans: Routine health care services (Consultation, Investigation and Medicines) are available on all working days (that is all days except Sundays and Gazetted holidays), after getting O.P.D. Registration, whose timings are 7.30 A.M. to 12.00 P.M. (Weekdays) and 7.30 A.M. to 11.00 A.M. (Saturday). However in case of any emergency, medical facilities are available in the Casualty Department round the clock.

 

Q.5) Who can avail investigative facilities of the hospital and when? 

  1. Ans; Investigative facilities are provided only on advice of treating doctors. Routine investigations (Laboratory, X-Ray Ultrasound Services etc.) are done from 9 A.M. to 11.30 A.M.,(reports are usually available on the next working day). Urgent investigations are done round the clock only for admitted and casualty patients. Ultrasound study is done with prior appointment. CT scan is available only for patients admitted in casualty and emergency (on outsource basis). And the assistance scheme under Delhi Arogya Kosh (DAK) is being effectively implemented by providing free high end Diagnostic Tests & free surgery from approved private diagnostic centre and hospital

 

Q. 6) How can a patient get operated?

 

  1. Ans: If a patient comes in casualty and if immediate operation is essential, then doctor operates him/her in emergency operation theatre, which is open 24*7 hours. If a patient comes in OPD, he is checked for fitness for surgery by getting pre- anesthetic check up. If found fit patient is given appointment for operation depending on the department’s workload and waiting time. And the assistance scheme under Delhi Arogya Kosh (DAK) is being effectively implemented by providing free high end Diagnostic Tests & free surgery from approved private diagnostic centre and hospital .

Q.7) What are Blood Bank facilities?

Ans: Blood bank issues blood & blood products to those patients who are admitted and treated in this hospital against donation or as life saving (on certification by treating consultant/CMO). Blood bank is open for Voluntary blood donation round the clock (24×7) and a Donor card is issued by Blood Bank against which donor can get blood for him/her and their close relative for one year. He/she can also get results of HIV, HBSAg, HCV, VDRL or Malarial infection of his blood if he wants and submit a request in writing. Blood products like Platelets, Packed Red cell, Fresh Frozen Plasm (FFP) are also available on demand. Blood is also provided for emergency patients on requisition from outside private hospital against charges as decided by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi.

M: Online OPD Registration: Online OPD registration facility is available and patient may generate OPD card directly through Department website www.health.delhigovt.nic.in upto 8.00 am for the current date and bring the print of OPD Registration slip generated to the hospital on the day mentioned on the card between 9.00 a.m. and 12.00 Noon and proceed directly to the selected speciality OPD and wait for their turn in front of any room for the speciality.

2.O.P.D. Registration has separate queues for (a) male (b) female (c) senior citizens, freedom fighters, persons with disabilities patients & (d) DelhiGovt. Health Scheme beneficiaries.

 All the medicines are given free of cost from the hospital pharmacy and are usually given for three days but for illness, medicines are given for 15 to 30 days.

Indoor patients are provided all facilities free of cost with free food.

Free Ambulance is available for referring needy patients to specialized hospitals

PROTOCOL FOR DISABILITY CERTIFICATE

  1. Patient to get his / her OPD card made from registration counter. OPD cards will be made on priority.

  2. Patient to attend concerned OPD onthe same day and patient will be examined on priority.

  3. Patient to get relevantinvestigations completed as per advice. All investigations will be done on priority.

  4. A)Patient to submit investigation reports along with relevant documents in Room No 601 with 4 passport size photographs, residence proof(Ration Card, Voter I.D. or Aadhaar Card) on the same day or any other day between 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm (Monday to Friday).

B)For Orthopedic/ Physical disability, the papers will be submitted inRoom No 601 and patients will be given an appointment for detailed examination.

C)For Neurological Disability, patients will be referred to IHBAS.Certificate will be given by IHBAS.

  1. Disability Certificate will be made within 21 days of submission of relevant documents in Room No 601 and will be informed accordingly.

  2. Disability Certificate can be collect by self or by another person on providing proper authorization.

Protocol to issue disability certificate forRailway pass

  1. To get a certificate from Ortho deptt. Contact Room no 601 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Between 2 to 4 pm.

  2. To get a certificate from -Eye deptt (Room no 32), ENT deptt. (Room no 26), Surgerydeptt. (Room no- 28), Medicine deptt. (Room no-34 & 35) from 8 am to 1pm.

  3. Kindly bring original Disability certificate along with Railway form duly filled & photo pasted on it.

Protocol for issue of Blood units

  1. In routine cases of blood requirements:- With replacement donation only

  2. In Life saving cases:- Without Replacement donation but only after the requisition signed and stamped by treating Consultant/Senior doctors(From 9am to 4 pm) and by Senior Residentand countersigned by CMO on duty( from 4 pm to 9am).

  3. There is no charge for blood units issued to admitted patients of our hospital and any other Delhigovt. hospital if required( on case to case basis)

  4. In case of blood issued to Pvt.Hospital ( In Emergency cases only) processing fees mentioned below isapplicable:-

  • Whole Blood:-Rs.1050/per unit

  • Packed RBC:- Rs1050/ per unit

  • Platelet Concentrate:-Rs 300/ per unit

  • FFP:- Rs 300/ per unit

For The correction in the spellings of father/mother name and residential address and contact MRD Room no-501 along with the documents mentioned below:-
